Overcoming Digestive Problems
Symptoms can be present for a number of reasons, for example –
• Stress/overwork/worry
• Eating the wrong foods – too much spicy/too much cold/too much sweet etc.
• Food intolerances
• Weak digestive system
The most common ailments include -
• Indigestion
• Bloating
• Diarrhoea
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
• Food Cravings & Weight Gain
• Loss of Appetite/Weight Loss
In order to combat these debilitating symptoms, Nicola Fielding offers a comprehensive and holistic range of therapies in her Thorpe Bay clinic;
Acupuncture
Useful in calming or promoting the digestive function as well as providing a calming effect on the nervous system. Certain acupuncture points are known to help specific conditions like nausea and constipation
Food Intolerance Testing
Can help to identify specific foods that could be causing unwanted symptoms like diarrhoea, constipation or IBS. Where the digestive system struggles to process certain foods, it is unable to fully utilise some of the nutrients in those foods. This leads to a poor nutritive state, possibly resulting in food cravings, weight loss or weight gain
Body or Foot Massage
Also useful in helping to relieve symptoms of stress and promoting relaxation and aiding digestion
Moxibustion (a herb used in Chinese Medicine which is burnt around acupuncture points)
Useful for warming and unblocking areas where there is stagnation and strengthening internal organs. Can be used with or without acupuncture
Diet and Nutritional Planning
Establishing some of the bad habits that result from our modern lifestyle like eating too late at night, eating the wrong sorts of foods, unknown ingredients in manufactured food. All play havoc with our systems and consequently our bodily functions suffer
A confidential listening ear
Having someone to talk to and provide encouragement in relation to difficult emotional or physical topics, can help enormously

Please note:
Many of the digestive problems we experience are probably related to lifestyle but medical advice should be sought if the person is worried about their condition or symptoms have been persistent.
